If you have a passion for encouraging youth to excel, then we are looking for you to share your story!

This program is intended to help students better understand the direct relationship of North Kenwood Oakland Charter School's' curricular subject areas to life skills and STEM career opportunities in the workplace. NO PREPARATION NEEDED! The main format is to have volunteers visit the classrooms and speak informally. Informal presentations may include an explanation of your career path, personal stories of interest, educational decisions, the joys and frustrations of the field & giving advice/encouragement to the students. Dress Code: Business casual and comfortable shoes.

North Kenwood/Oakland Charter serves grades Pre-K through 5 and is one of the four campuses of the UChicago Charter School system. It engages students in a challenging academic environment and fosters in all students a sense of responsibility for themselves and their community. NKO is one of the highest-performing non-selective elementary schools in the City of Chicago.

Junior Achievement of Chicago is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to bringing the free enterprise system to life in the classroom and reinforcing the importance of staying in school. Junior Achievement of Chicago partners volunteers from the community with classrooms spanning kindergarten through high school.

If registering over the phone be prepared to share your guests name, an email for event confirmation, and allow up to two weeks for the registration process to be completed, including charges to your credit card, listing on the “Look Who’s Coming”, and viewing the event in your account.
