Neighborhood Transformations Near Campus Bus Tour with Lunch for UChicago Alumni

Learn about both recent and historic changes in the communities that surround the University of Chicago campus. This bus tour rolls through campus, its surrounding neighborhoods and stops for a soul food meal along the way.

See how UChicago has expanded its reach both within Hyde Park and beyond as we tour Kenwood, South Shore, Woodlawn and Washington Park. You’ll glimpse historic sites and new developments, and enjoy a last chance to dine on a hearty soul food lunch at the historic location of Daley’s Restaurant, Chicago's oldest restaurant. Includes a tour of the UChicago Arts Incubator building and the opportunity to learn how Theaster Gates is transforming the South Side through socially conscious art.

ThisThis tour is led by guides who are University of Chicago Alumni. The Chicago Detours tour company has been bringing people to explore stories and places locals don't even know since 2010. Amanda Scotese, AM'13, started the company to offer unique tour experiences of architecture, history and culture.
