Bridgeport Boats, Arts, Monks and Lunch Walking Tour

A one-time chance for this unique experience!

Join fellow alumni for a tour of Bridgeport led by Chicago Detours Founder, Amanda Scotese, AM'13. We meet at the Bridgeport Art Center on the South Side and inside this giant building we will visit the Chicago Maritime Museum, appropriately located right on the banks of Bubbly Creek. We’ll get a tour of the collections with Executive Director Ked Fairbanks, MBA’73.

This walking tour includes more transformed factories and warehouses, an early movie theater, old pharmacies, and former working-class watering holes. We will share ideas on the past lives of these buildings and you'll see the present life with street art and new creative businesses.

We’ll grab lunch from a Detours’ favorite, Johnny O’s (you’ve experienced it if you came on our "Big Shoulders Historic Bar and Food Bus Tour" last year). Our experience concludes at the Monastery of the Holy Cross where we get a taste of beer brewed by the monks.

The Chicago Detours tour company has been bringing people to explore stories and places locals don't even know since 2010. Amanda started the company to offer unique tour experiences that integrate architecture, history and culture.

If you have any questions regarding logistics of the event, e.g., where to meet, special assistance requests, parking, please contact the Amanda Scotese, AM'13 at Chicago Detours 312-350-1131.
