About the Presenters:
Margaret Chan
Margaret Chan is a Certified Executive Coach with expertise working with professionals on career transitions and leadership development. One of her focus areas is coaching professionals, who are often women, as they relaunch their careers after caregiving. She takes a holistic approach to her clients’ lives, of which a career is an important component, to prioritize their key objectives. Her experience includes self-assessment of strengths and skills, re-entry strategies, target careers and functions, networking strategies, resumes and LinkedIn profiles, career narratives, interview preparation, and support of her clients as they build confidence throughout the process. She has particular expertise working with professionals applying for career reentry programs (returnships) and developing their own successful reentry strategies.
Prior to founding her own firm, Chan Executive Coach LLC, Margaret had a 25-year career in executive search, including 18 years at Spencer Stuart and Korn Ferry, the global search firms, where she assessed over 3,500 executives as they pursued new career opportunities. Working with Chairmen and Boards of Directors, CEOs and their direct reports, she understands their perspectives and expectations and leverages this insight into her coaching practice.
She has experience with a range of sectors, including financial services, private equity, insurance, consumer goods, retail, technology, consulting, and nonprofit. She has in-depth knowledge of multiple functions, including general management, finance, investments, strategy, marketing, communications, sales, consulting, operations, technology, and board directorship.
Margaret is an Executive Coach for The Leadership Lab at Columbia Business School and for alumni of The Wharton School, Columbia Business School, and The University of Pennsylvania. She began her career in marketing at General Foods, Citigroup, and Oppenheimer Management.
Margaret holds an MBA from The Kellogg School at Northwestern University and a BS with honors from New York University. She earned her Executive Coaching Certification at the highest level from Columbia University and is also certified in Hogan Assessments. She lives in New York City with her husband and two children.
