Neighborhood Transformations Near Campus Bus Tour for UChicago Alumni

A Thought-Provoking South Side Tour with Obama Center Presentation

Join your fellow UChicago alumni on a 2.5-hour bus tour of new buildings, businesses and other developments on campus and in surrounding South Side neighborhoods. This tour includes a stop to visit the UChicago Arts Block in Washington Park and its recently restored 1892 “L” Station. You’ll view new campus architecture, historic homes in Jackson Park Highlands and recent developments in Hyde Park, Kenwood and Woodlawn. Highlighting the experience is a discussion in the Jackson Park Fieldhouse with Distinguished Alumni Honoree Ghian Foreman, MBA’01. As President and CEO of the Emerald South Economic Development Collaborative, he’ll present on impending changes to communities near the future Obama Presidential Center.

This tour is led by guides who are University of Chicago Alumni. The Chicago Detours tour company has been bringing people to explore stories and places locals don't even know since 2010. Amanda Scotese, AM'13, started the company to offer unique tour experiences of architecture, history and culture.
