Cancelled | Architecture of Money and Power Financial District Walking Tour for UChicago Alumni

Discover opulent architecture and secret stories.

Join fellow UChicago Alumni for this walking tour in the heart of Chicago's financial district. We’ll explore opulent architectural interiors of bank and insurance buildings from the turn of the century and beyond. You'll hear about flamboyant characters of the past, including stories of both greed and generosity. We'll visit what was the largest and most technologically advanced building of the 1930s and consider the background of skyscrapers as symbols of financial power.

There will be two versions of the tour on Friday, April 10th. The 11am tour is 2 hours long and does not include a stop for a drink. The 4pm version is 2.5 hours long and includes a drink stop in an atmospheric old-school bar under the ‘L’ tracks.

The Chicago Detours tour company has been bringing people to explore stories and places locals don't even know since 2010. Amanda Scotese, AM'13, started the company to offer unique tour experiences of architecture, history and culture.
